Host Family Info

Greetings supporters of youth baseball,

It’s with great anticipation that we write this letter. Our community, along with the Longview World Series Committee and Longview and Kelso Babe Ruth Baseball will be hosting the 2001 Babe Ruth 14 World Series this summer!

This is a wonderful opportunity, not only for those players participating in the event, but also for anyone who enjoys the game of baseball. The quality of play will be astounding! The Series will showcase the best talent from every region of the country.

As with any such event it takes a great deal of help from many volunteers. At this time we are seeking people to house players. Babe Ruth Baseball has set up the “Host Family” program which assists teams with expenses and also gets the entire host community involved with the Series.

We will be hosting 10 teams with 12-15 players per team. The rules state that we must have at least two players together in a single household. The host family feeds and arranges transportation to practices, games and any other activities. The host family will receive a tournament pass good for all World Series games.

As a former host parent of several tournaments I can assure you it’s been a great experience for my family. We’re still in contact with team coaches, players and parents from the 1997 Babe Ruth World Series. I sure hope you can find time to schedule this into your activities for the summer of 2001.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Heidi Polis
